One boat in the night Where you’re bound I will never know I hold you in my sight And look on as the tide rolls high, carrying the Two boats in the night I can see you far below Hold on to my light It is only safe for you when we’re apart

The mountain sighs a heavy breath That stirs the life upon its chest Of weariness it does not know It only can give The river runs its steady course Delivering its ancient source Of greed the river does not know It only can give The wind is singing tenderly A song that sets the stillness free A home the wind can never know It only can give The trees are silvered in the sun (The mountain sighs a heavy breath) From birth to death their home is one (The river runs its steady course) A desperate longing, they must know (The wind is singing softly now) They only can give

Perhaps I could borrow one? Surely, Those who’ve had more time to collect Can spare a few Recollections, And redirect a memory From their treasure-trove. Not the stories themselves, But the living of them. A temporary transplant More plastic than plant But close enough From a distance. You see, My memories are all used up. I’m bankrupt. Left to search the twilit corners of Dusty thoughts and mothballed memories: My hidden stash. But alas... Perhaps I could borrow some? A few memories for when the going gets rough. Just enough To fill in the cracks that her absence left To darn the holes in my head Like a patchwork quilt Of moth-torn silk: Mother’s memory If Only…

And so once again My dear Johnny, my dear friend And so once again you are fighting us all And when I ask you why You raise your sticks and cry, and I fall Oh, my friend How did you come To trade the fiddle for the drum? You say I have turned Like the enemies you've earned But I can remember All the good things you are And so I ask you please Can I help you find the peace and the star? Oh, my friend What time is this To trade the handshake for the fist? And so oncе again Oh, America, my friend And so once again You arе fighting us all And when we ask you why You raise your sticks and cry and we fall Oh, my friend How did you come To trade the fiddle for the drum? You say we have turned Like the enemies you've earned But we can remember All the good things you are And so we ask you please Can we help you find the peace and the star? Oh, my friend We have all come To fear the beating of your drum

Will we know the end when we get there? Will it run like the horizon, Always out of reach, but beautiful still? Will we know the end when we get there? Will it hide like the horizon, Waiting patiently out of sight? Will we know the end when we get there? At one point did you know? At one point did you know? Does it feel like the beginning? Does it feel like the beginning? Does it feel like the beginning?

To Hold Love 06:33
Journey through the roughest waters Carry on through crowds of calloused hearts Cut a path through vast and wild forest To find love Journey through the roughest waters Carry on through crowds of calloused hearts Cut a path through vast and wild forest To find love To give love We must hold love with the greatest care

about

This is music about space. The space between each note, each word, each breath. Between what was, what is, and what can be. Between you and me. The challenge of giving, taking, and making space. The precious and vast potential of the material spaces around us and the intangible spaces within us. The gentle potency of silence. This is music about the spaces that hold the ones we love and that are left empty when they are lost.
